Objective:
Our goal is to encourage everyone to draw closer to Jesus Christ by embracing and deepening their engagement with Temple and Family History work. With the opening of the new Layton Utah Temple, we invite all to partake of the blessings that Temple and Family History work offer. This effort is part of our ongoing mission to gather Israel in these latter days.
We seek to follow the counsel of President Nelson when he proclaimed, “Nothing will help you more to hold fast to the iron rod than worshiping in the temple as regularly as your circumstances permit. Nothing will protect you more as you encounter the world’s mists of darkness. Nothing will bolster your testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement or help you understand God’s magnificent plan more. Nothing will soothe your spirit more during times of pain. Nothing will open the heavens more. Nothing!”
Plan Components:
Establish a Regular “Ward Temple day” for Adults:
Coming together as a community of saints to serve in the temple fosters unity and creates memorable experiences for everyone involved. Ward Temple days will be scheduled on different days of the week each month. We will encourage members to invite others to join them as partake in the blessings of the temple.
Organize Regular Temple Trips for the Youth:
Aim for 1-2 youth temple trips per quarter throughout the year, providing opportunities for the youth to participate in temple service
Introduce and incorporate the Temple & Family History "4-Phase Next Steps Plan" as we invite everyone in the ward to increase their efforts to partake of the eternal blessings that Temple and Family History work afford.
Provide Resources and Education:
Offer resources and education for individuals and families to develop the skills and utilize available tools for effective family history work.
Create an Annual Temple & Family History Event to Increase Focus & Awareness
January 25th 2025 we will have our first Temple & Family History Ward event!
Implement the "Our Ward in Heaven" Plan:
Challenge ward members to complete ordinances for a number of ancestors equal to the ward's living membership. Encourage each household to double that goal for their family lines. Ordinances include baptisms, confirmations, initiatories, endowments, and sealings (to parents and spouses).
